09:40 AM Tokyo Metropolitan Government 東京都庁舎

An extra of 25% of the room fee will be charged if we want to checkout at 3 PM instead of 12 PM! Thus, according to plan, we checked out of our hotel room right in the morning before we start our day.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is located in Shinjuku, about 10 minutes walk from the Hilton Tokyo Hotel. The two top floors of the building are observation decks, free of charge to the public.

Searching for the entrance to the building

Finally found! The entrance to the observatories is at a corner.

There are 2 observatories available at The Metropolitan Government Building – North & South Observatories, both are not linked. We went to the South Observatory first then the North. Security is very tight there.

Up to the 45th level…

There is an exhibition going on in the one of the observatory deck, in line with Tokyo’s effort in bidding to host the Olympics game for the year 2016.

Gift shops are available at the Observatories. Got bookmarks for my lunch mates and an extra Ghibli keychain for Wei Lian. We were still unable to see Mt. Fuji due to the heavy mist.

Did a survey there and we were “awarded” by 2 free pairs of socks! Took the Tokyo pamphlets from the Customer Service Counter for Lynn.

11:40 PM Takashimaya 株式会社高島屋

Took a slow walk over to Takashimaya from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Initially, we wanted to have lunch at one of the restaurants there but was pulled back by the long queues. We then decided to look for alternatives elsewhere. There was a Hokkaido Food Fair at level 10…

JR getting his take-away food from one of the food stalls.

Went down to B1 to find more food…

Very pretty strawberries

Red big strawberries. One box of 15 costs 5,775 Yen (S$99.55)!

The entire basement is full of food!

Got my take-away done from one of the stalls.

Oh my, Kinokuniya is a supermarket!

13:35 PM Lunch

Finally found somewhere that we can settle down for lunch.

Mine!

JR’s!

14:00 PM Dessert Time

We had Ham & Eggs crepe from Donatello’s right after lunch.

15:00 PM Back to Hilton Tokyo Hotel

We walked back to our hotel. Bought a bottle of hot lemon drink from New Store Convenience Store for Shiao Harn.

Our luggage were already at the hotel entrance. The 15:10 PM Airport Limousine Bus arrived shortly and we were off to the airport!

We were caught in a jam due to a street demonstration.

16:45 PM Tokyo Narita Airport

Tight security at Narita Airport! We were required to produce our passports in order to enter the airport’s vicinity.

We bought quite a lot of snacks from the shops at the airport. Found one of the drinks that may be what Shiao Harn had wanted and bought it for her. She can choose between both drinks that I had bought.

Got one for ourselves too! Cooling and sweet!

Soon it was time to board our 18:30 PM flight. We were not very used to the smaller 747 plane compared to the A380. Everything seem smaller, the seats and the entertainment screen. Luckily for us, there were great movies available – we watched Australia and Suspect X.

Roasted peanuts

Both of us had the International meals cos they ran out of the Japanese meals 🙁
