07:20 AM JW Marriott Hotel Seoul

Good morning Seoul!

We woke up at 6:40 AM, washed up and went down for breakfast at 7:20 AM. JR didn’t have much appetite so we didn’t eat much. JR left for work at 8:15 AM and I went back to sleep. I was woken up by loud knocks… OH NO! I overslept and JZ & MIL were knocking my door… They enjoyed the river view from the room while I dressed up. We left the hotel at 10:15 AM. We had breakfast at McDonald’s before heading out to Ewha Woman’s University. As it was our first time travelling there, we were unsure of the directions. We had to transfer lines at Euljiro 3-ga station and we walked really far to the other line just to realised that we were in the correct line, but wrong direction. There’s no way to cross over to the opposite side in this line and we had to walk all the way back to the line where we came from to get to the opposite side. We were very tired by the time we got onto the train.

We arrived at Ewha Woman’s University station and got out from Exit 3. We had no idea where to shop so we walked towards the university. There are many shops around the area. We shopped until it was almost 2 PM.

14:10 PM Random Korean Restaurant

We stopped by one of the restaurant and had lunch.

Cannot remember the name for this.

Tteokbokki, a popular Korean snack, includes a braised dish of sliced rice cake, meat, eggs and seasoning.

Gimbap, another popular Korean dish, made from steamed white rice and various other ingredients, rolled in seaweed. Looks like the Korean version of Japanese sushi. I do not like this dish because of the mint leaves they put in.

We continued shopping after lunch. The rain became heavier and it was very troublesome to shop in the rain, opening and closing the umbrella every now and then. While on the way back to the subway station, we met some girls going around providing directions (from Seoul Tourism Board I think). We got a map from them and realised that we had only covered a quarter of the whole shopping area! It was nearly 4 PM and we had to proceed to our next destination.

15:50 PM 이대역 (梨大驛) Ewha Woman’s University Station

Leaving! We took the subway to Hoehyeon Station and walked to Namdaemun Market.

17:00 PM 남대문시장 (南大門市場) Namdaemun Market

A shopping “heaven” for aunties.

MIL bought Ginseng from one of the stalls.

JR & I didn’t manage to find the Namdaemun Gate the last time we were here. I managed to see it this time! It was under renovation and was all covered up. We walked to the nearest subway station, City Hall Station and took the subway to Jonggak Station.

18:10 PM 인사동 (仁寺洞) Insadong

We were supposed to meet MIL’s friends for dinner. We walked to their stall in Insadong from Jonggak Station.

We were served my favourite strawberry juice drink :).

JR arrived shortly after at 6:30 PM. He was early as we were supposed to meet at 7:30 PM. We left for dinner at about 7+ PM.

19:45 PM BBQ Restaurant @ 인사동 (仁寺洞) Insadong

We were brought to a Korea BBQ restaurant. MIL’s Korean friends ordered a lot of food for us.

This dish contained snails! MIL & JZ were disgusted after eating them. 🙂

There were a lot of leftovers… it was delicious but we were too full to finish everything.

22:30 PM JW Marriott Hotel Seoul

We took a cab back to the hotel… what a tiring day…

Night view of the Han River from our hotel room.

Recording down what we did for the day before I forgot them.
