11:00 AM Starting our Museum Day in Paris

A: Antoine et Chocolat [Pont Marie Station]
B: Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre Station
Total travelling time = 12 minutes

It was our last day in Paris and also our museum day.

It was another cold and wet day in Paris.

11:15 AM Le Café Marly

A: Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre Station
B: Café Marly @ 93 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France
Total walking distance = 0.96km

JR brought me to Le Café Marly for brunch. Le Café Marly is located in the Richelieu wing of the Louvre Museum, overlooking the Louvre Pyramid and the Cour Napoléon.

We were brought into the restaurant and seated at one of the tables. The waitresses are informally dressed. They are in black and each of them carries a small sling bag. On the other hand, the waiters are dressed extremely well.

There was some miscommunication somewhere. We were initially told that we could order from the lunch menu but we were now told that the kitchen would only start cooking lunch an hour later. We decided to order an omelette first.

The waitress (A) came back with bread & butter and only a set of utensils – a set of fork & knife, a glass and a napkin! Was it just because we only ordered an omelette?

After a very long time, A decided to come back and gave me my fork & knife but not my glass and napkin. We ate slowly while waiting for time. We only knew the restaurant was serving lunch when the table next to us were having something other than omelette. A didn’t inform us so we ordered our lunch through another waiter. While waiting for our food to be served, A suddenly remembered us and asked us for our orders for lunch!

13:00 PM Musée du Louvre

A: Café Marly
B: Musée du Louvre
Total walking distance = 0.13km

It was raining when we left Le Café Marly but the weather didn’t stop us from taking photos with the pyramids.

Entering!

Our tickets

The Louvre Museum looks bigger than the MET! We followed the crowd into the museum, climbing stairs after stairs, all the way up to the hall where they hang the famous Mona Lisa portrait.

Taking breaks along the way.

Finally!

There were so many people crowding around the Mona Lisa portrait. The Mona Lisa is a half length portrait of a woman by Leonardo da Vinci. We left the hall after taking photos with the portrait. There are so many other beautiful paintings in the museum but it became boring to me after a few hours. I even fell asleep on one of the resting chairs! We decided to end our museum day…

16:10 PM McDonald’s

We shared a meal at McDonald’s before leaving the Louvre Museum.

16:30 PM Shopping Again

Some random photos while we shopped…

Louis Vuitton Place Vendôme

Decided to visit Louis Vuitton again. Instead of going back to the store @101 ave des Champs-Elysees, JR led us to another store nearby. We walked a long way there and realised that Louis Vuitton Place Vendôme only carries jewellery :(. It was a wasted trip.

Back at Louis Vuitton @ 101 ave des Champs-Elysees. We were brought to a resting lounge by our sales assistant while he packed our purchases. We were offered drinks while waiting.

18:50 PM Aux Désirs de Manon

We went back to our apartment after shopping. On the way back, we got ourselves some lovely cakes from one of the bakery stalls next to our apartment.

Eclair and Hazel Nut cake

We shared the cakes because we thought we would go out for dinner later that evening. JR wasn’t hungry and was already lazing in bed so we decided to skip dinner.

Lucky I still have my Pierre Hermé Paris Macarons and also the 2 day old scones from Le Bar Long. We completed our packing that night and went to bed early since we need to wake up very early the next day to catch our flight. It was a noisy night. The locals next door were partying because it was a Friday night.
