Date: 20 Jun 2009 Saturday
Walked over to JR’s parents’ place at about 5:15 AM.
JR & my “luggages”. We brought along some clean clothes as we may be staying a night in Melaka if JR is too tired to drive back that night.
05:50 AM Here we go!
We were finally on our way at 05:50 AM. Arrived at Tuas Checkpoint at 06:25 AM.
Managed to clear Singapore and Malaysia Customs at 06:45 AM and 07:16 AM respectively. There was a slight jam but it wasn’t that bad.
08:00 AM Machap
Hungry! JR & I shared a plate of Nasi Lemak.
JR had an additional roti prata.
Proceed to our next destination after a 45 minutes break at Machap. Our initial plan was to stop by Muar before heading to Melaka. JR’s father was afraid that we might be too early to visit his friend hence postpone our visit to Muar to the next day. Hmm.. they already concluded that we are staying a night in Melaka!!!
09:50 AM Out of Ayer Keroh Highway
We drove on for another 30 minutes before we finally reached Air Panas Gadek.
Paying up, RM 4 each!
The Gadek hot spring is located between Gadek Alor Gajah – Tampin main road, and is about 30 km from Melaka Town.
There are several small pools available in the middle, all filled with hot spring water. The water is so hot that we couldn’t enter the pools.
Pool being fenced up due to the quality of the spring water which is NOT suitable for bathing.
Toilets
Bigger pool – The water here is not as hot as the smaller pools. All of us gathered in this pool and were wet with our own sweat! We must be really mad to be soaking in the hot water with the blazing sun shinning above us at 10+ AM.
The place was quite empty during late morning. There were about 2 – 3 groups of people (including us).
11:30 AM Setting off to Melaka Town
It was so refreshing after a nice cold shower. We were soon perspiring again due to the extreme warm weather.
Visit to Petrol Kiosk
Cooling ourselves with cold drinks.
12:20 PM Melaka Town
12:30 PM Donald & Lily’s Corner
Found Donald & Lily’s Corner. Wanted to come here during our last visit in November 08, but couldn’t locate the stall as I forgot to take down their address. Finally found the place this time. The place was full but we didn’t have to wait very long for an available table for the 5 of us.
The menu at the top of the doorway.
Cendol
My Nasi Kari Ayam
JR’s Nyonya Laksa
JR’s parents’ Tau Kua
JZ’s Pongteh
The food may look normal & simple but they were really delicious!
Walked over to Jonker Street after lunch.
Antique shops
Gold plating
Old uncle performing gold plating by electronchemical means.
Take a break, have a drink.
I didn’t know pigs can fly!
We decided not to stay for the night. It was only 14:55 PM when we finished exploring Jonker Street. Decided to proceed to Muar.
We stopped by a roadside fruit stall to get fruits.
16:10 Muar
Eng Bee Book Stall – JR’s parents’ visiting their friend
Look what we found in the stall! Can you remember these books?
17:10 PM Leaving Muar
18:55 PM Exit highway
Dinner at JB Taman Sentosa
Had used the Olympus camera at dinner. Didn’t want to attract unnecessary attention with our 5D. It was so difficult to take clear photos without flash.
Big glass of sugar cane
Sambal Kangkong
Sweet & Sour Pork
Stingray
Butter Crayfish
Chili crab
Mantou
Finished our great dinner 21:10 PM and went back to Singapore straight. What a tiring day…
